In need of some expertise in identifying single allen head bolt found at the leading edge of the bottom end on a 1965 6501 Westbend Chrysler 6hp outboard (not in manual).
And, how does one replace the prop seal on same since the manual also shows an entirely different process.?

Thanks in advance. Any help is greatly appreciated

You will probably do better to contact The Chrysler Crew on this one. There is a Q&A forum and Franz will probably have the answers.

Funny thing is, the manual that contains procedures for parts not found on my motor, and doesn't contain procedures for those parts that are, was purchased from the very same people who now refuse my admittance to their forum.

nice.

solely for historical purposes and thread completion, the allen head in question was for removal of the gear case. the other bolt was assessable only after removing the bearing cage, which coincidentally was hidden behind a line cutting plate that initial appeared integral to the bearing cage.

Thanks again for the help, and thanks to iboats.com for affording us this forum

in need of a source for the shift rod seal for said 1965 chrysler/westbend 6501. have replaced the prop seal and drive shaft seal, (with o-ring) but am still getting water intrusion into gear case.

I have some telltale drainage of fresh gear oil from fore drain hole that drains the front cavity where the shift rod is located and its the only seal yet replaced related to this system

Also in need of an assist in diagnosing my coils. I get 0.01 Ohm?s on the primary side for both, 7.45 and 7.50 respectively on the secondary windings.
Motor runs ok but I hard to start, (especially cold) pickup is miserable and is unresponsive to external mixture adjustments whether hot or cold.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.
