With great sadness I found out from another member that long time member sam60 has passed away after a long battle with cancer.

I remember when Sam bought a Win Dale Jr's Ride raffle ticket from Dale Earnhardt Jr. for charity. The prize was a bright yellow Corvette. He won the raffle and after meeting with Dale, he had it shipped from North Carolina and some of us tracked the truck to Nevada with him. The truck broke down during the trip and took a little longer than expected until the Vette was in his garage.

He was in such quandary, keep it or sell it, thinking if he kept it he would become acquainted with too many police officers in the wrong way. After taking a few joy rides, Sam did sell the Vette, but he had some fun first. :D

Sam receiving the keys from Dale showing the personalized plate. Sam was over the moon for winning and meeting Dale. samsvette.png

Rest in peace, sam60. We miss you.

Just got home and see this ... so sad. Sam and I got close over the sale of the Vette and his cancer. After selling the Vette it seemed that he had the cancer beat briefly. We talked and prayed through a lot of stuff. I will miss him.

Just looked at this yesterday and was remembering the whole Corvette win.

I'm so sorry to hear. I knew he was fighting the cancer, but didn't know it had progressed so much. God rest him, and comfort his family.

Condolences from Ontario. I didn't know Sam well but I know he was well respected and that's all a man can carry to the grave, respect.

Sell or keep a beauty like that? I know keep for a year then sell. I even like the shade of yeller,

Well hell. Hopefully he will bump into my friend Richard (endoman) and have a good laugh.

Sad to hear that. Sam would root for Iowa and I would root for Nebraska until they played each other and then it was back to our corners. Go Huskers.

Last time I spoke to Mike was last December. We have spoken a few times a year in the past 10 years, a couple times by phone. He mailed me a huge box of antique Popular Mechanics a few years ago...He said he thought I would like to have them. Very Very nice guy. Since he lived near Vegas, I was able to get him some UCLA UNLV football tickets one year.

RIP Mike.

We should treat all our friends and family as if it was our last time together. I have a few calls to make to my 80 something year old uncle who is more like a father to me than my father was.

I looked too. I knew roughly where he lived and couldn't find anything. I haven't seen a link or a reference anywhere.
