Repowering: Using Volvo 280 duo-prop

Just a question, I am getting ready to repower my boat which is a Bayliner 2860 Trophy (28'x10'). The boat HAD in it a Volvo 260A (V-8 Carburated) 260 HP with the Volvo 280 duo-prop outdrive.

The question is, I am either going to repower with a 5.7 Liter fuel injection 320 hp or I plan on going with a 6.0 Liter fuel injection 375 hp, will my existing Volvo 280 duo-prop handle either motor application? If so is there anything that needs to be done to the existing outdrive to handle the additional HP?

I am really trying to repower without replacing my outdrive. It is currently is excellent condition.

It should work just fine.
You will probably have to change props to get your proper WOT but that's about it. With the newer engines, you want to be on the upper side of range with your normal load on the boat.

Thanks for the advise. It certainly will be cheaper to buy new props versis and new outdrive.
