I am repowering my 16ft bowrider.how do the new 2 stroke mercurys compare with the other makes as far as fuel efficiency, reliability, and repair cost. i am looking at a 2003 90hp but was also considering the 115hp merc.my boat came with an 85 hp, should i step up to the 115 or stay with the 90?

Get all the power your boat and pocket can afford and handle, as far as fuel goes, the faster you go the more go juce you burn. So.....jus' don't run WOT all the time. Newer Mercs are fine motors....a 115 HP @ 75% power willl burn less fuel than a 90 at WOT.

thanks,my data sticker on the boat is worn so i cant read the max power rating.the boat is a four winns and has a deep-V bottom and is fairly heavy.i was mainly concerned about the added weight of the 115.
