Ok so I just want to know what I'll need to connect the new 25 HP suzuki outboard to the original steering cable. Any specific steering arm/link? Or universal. ? Thank you.

The steering rod on the motor is likely threaded. Find a bolt (likely fine thread metric) and see if you can bolt on that cable steering clamp. You may need to loosen the cable clamps a bit, if she is too tight.

I would put a nylon lock nut on the bottom of the bolt, after it clears the bottom of the steering clamp, plus a washer for top and bottom of the bolt, for safety.

You are correct. It is threaded. But there is no steering arm/drag link. So that has to be purchased. And if I'm gonna do that. I'm thinking nfb steering but need to know how to properly measure for the cable. Currently I'm at 13 feet from center of the steering column. Down the side of the boat. A 90 degree turn to the center of the "metal tube" sorry. Don't know what's that called. But you can see that in the picture.

I would not expect you to use a steering link with that cable steering. If you punch up some 1960's boats with your kind of steering, they did not use steering links.

If you convert to single cable steering you will need a steering link. if sticking with that steering system, just bolt her up.

I agree. But I don't mind upgrading. Especially since the pulleys themselves have small stress cracks. "50 years old. I'm too kinda cracking" lol. But everything I've taken off for safety reasons. I've properly stored. Including the original 68 mercury 35. Two stroke. And merc control box. Surprisingly the steering wheel is not cracked at all.
