I currently have a 1971 mercury 135 hp outboard on a 15.5 foot thompson sidewinder, I am thinking about getting a new mercury 115 hp what kind of change should I expect a gain a loss what do you think.

this is just a guess but I would think that your old 135 would be about the equal to new 115 the new motor is rated at prop and am sure you have lost a little to age.....bet it is within a mph or two of old moter....

Above is likely correct. When merc changed to propshaft rating the inline 6 140 became the 115.
