Repower?no data for max hp

i have a 20ft 1972 critchfield cuddy cabin.<br />it had a merc 115 on it,i'm replacing it<br />with a late model motor for reliability.<br />but i haven't found a data plate anywhere<br />on the boat.what would be the min and max hp?

Did you run it with the 115? Did it plane easily? If the transom is sound you should be OK with a new motor of the same weight and comparable horsepower. For a 20' I would like 150-175 (depending on the hull design) and what your goals are. Just my humble opinion, your mileage may vary. I've never even seen a Critchfield, so I may be way off base!

i haven't run the 115 because it needs work,i'm selling it on Ebay.<br />according to NADA guide it weighs 275.<br />on nada it looks like 150hp motors weigh<br />up to 100lbs more.
