I've gone thru a bunch of threads and havent been able to find any that address this. The hatch and a few other areas are rotted and leaking, and I certainly need to fix those. Do I have to remove the entire top of the cuddy or is here another way. 1990 Heritage

That bow support wood has been replaced already and with plywood maybe? You have to remove the end caps rub rail to get at the 5/32nds blind rivets that secure the bow deck aluminum.

This is what it should look like for factory bow deck support in the older SC boats like my Chief but I don't know what you have or year, mine were in great shape and all mahogany.

I see you have started a thread on your boat, it's best to keep everything there in that one thread rather than splattering topics around on the same boat topic.

raw wood would not have been there from the factory.

pull the hatch trim ring

pull the hatch (it needs to be re-bed anyway)

my guess is you will find more stuff to take care of.

working on a cuddy roof is a bit of a pain in the ash......

Roger that on the topics, my bad. Havent been able to really find much on the subject as of yet , hence the second posting. Thanks for the reply, reckon I was afraid I had a bit of a fun one to deal with. Was hoping I didnt have to lift the lid off this thing to do this task, but I looks like I'll be glad I picked up the gantry..

Thanks gents

The bow deck should not part of the cabin just pull the end cap and the rubrail from the bow and you can get to the rivets.

Was hoping for just that. That ply does extend about 6 or so inches beyond the point of the cabin windows. Was originally thinking that I could do what you say here and slide the wood back and out. Thanks again for the input. I see you've had alot over the years going thru the threads. This one area was something I really couldn't find much info on, even looking at some of the different model restos with the closed bow. Reckon that's the route we'll go
