Re: replacing wood boards

Regular old pressure treated 2 X 4" pine will work fine. Some are going to 2 X 6's. Make sure that whatever fasteners you use for the carpet are stainless or gavanized...

They are called bunks. Pressure treated 2X4's work well.

FYI... Stainless steel staples for the common Arrow staple gun are available at Home Depot stores and the like.

Re: replacing wood boards

I don't know if this applies to all pressure treated wood, but when I built my deck last year I had to buy special hardware for the PT lumber.

I guess the old galvanized hardware for PT lumber won't stand up to the highly corrosive nature of the more eco friendly PT lumber.

When I purchased the PT lumber it actually came with literature that explained the need for different hardware. It said regular galvanized hardware would typically last less than 5 years.

496 you are 100% right. i missed that, but i was still asleep. my last two trailers i use #1 2x6 paint 3 coats before assembly. standard PT doesn't keep wood from rotting. there is a below grade PT that is suppose to be used for post.
