replacing trim/tilt unit in water

Is it possible to replace the trim/tilt unit(whole thing) while boat is in water.

Engine 50 hp merc
Boat Pontoon

if you want to bad enough you can do anything. the problem is ease you can do it but you will be in the water that makes it that mutch harder and you need to be sure you dont leak any oil and you dont drop any nuts or bolts. i would recomend you try to find a trailer and do it on land.

I agree. You may find that going through the hassle of pulling the boat out of the water is much much less that doing this procedure in the water. Plus one dropped part and you then have a nightmare situation.

I can get the lower unit out but keeping it in place is another story.
