Slowly leaking where? Out the rams or just leaking down. If fluid is leaking out the rams, you'll need a spanner wrench to remove the caps and replace the O rings in each cap. If the unit is leaking down, you'll need to replace the check valves located in the front and rear of the unit.

I agree with capt. ken. but isn't there a seal on piston end of the rod that could also be bad?

Leaking out of the rams. Is it true spanner wrenches tend to break when trying to remove the caps? Someone told me that some mechs will sacrifice the caps and just replace them along with the O rings. Either way, how much should I expect to spend, or can I do this myself? Thanks for your help!

I have never had a wrench brake but I have damaged the end caps before. If the cap will not come off try taping the cylinder with a rubber mallet below the cap. As for price it could be about anything. The seal kit could be anywhere from 10-50 dollars. the cap whoknows. Good luck.
