I have a 84 Grady White Offshore 24’ and am trying to replace the starboard and port side thru-hulls. I can’t find access to the top thru-hull on the starboard side and the others seem impossible to reach adequately to remove the hose clamp and close and then re-assemble. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Never had a Grady but if you can reach the inside of the thru hull to attach a new hose and clamp you might cut he old one out from the outside. If it is nylon or plastic (even brass I guess)I would carefully cut it from the outside and push it through. Then install the new one.

I know the problem. A month ago I needed to replace the sending unit for my fuel tank. I have a 6" access/inspection plate and of course the idiot who designed the tank put the sending unit about 3" away from the access hole.

Manufacturers are bad about installing thru-hulls and such and then putting in the inner liner of a boat with no access to the thru-hulls, but, you can cut a hole in the liner and install an access port with out any trouble, just be careful......good luck'''''

Re: Replacing thru-hulls w/ stainless

I've got an "85' and have access ports on both sides to get to the fittings. The one on the starboard side was in the right position but the port side was, well not in the best position. I was finally able to reach the connection by removing the backside of the bulkhead and going in from there. As for the installation, I broke the heads off the thru-hulls from the outside and then pulled them back thru the hole for disassembly. When installing I found it easier to push the hose out thru the hole and push it on the fitting and then push the thing back thru the hull. Just remeber to put the nut on the hose before you push the hose on.
Good luck
