replacing stator

Several years ago, the stator went out on my 1990 60 johnson. the mechanic that worked on it replaced it with one oem# 584560. It always seemed to be under powered since then and I found today that the correct oem #s for that motor are 583779, 584236, 584766. can that cause my motor to rung bad?

can this lead to bigger problems and does it need to be replaced is what I really need to know.
