Hey, I know it might be a dumb question but how do you properly change just the boot of the spark plug wire. In my 89 85h.p. force the wires are molded to the ignition coils so I figured I'd try the inexpensive thing and just replace the boots. seems simple but i want to make sure that I do it correctly. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Not much to it. Just pull the old wires out of the old boots, put a dab of dish washing liquid on the end of the wire and slide it into the new boot. If the wires don't want to come out of the old boot, just cut it off. You need boots for 7mm wires.

As pnwboat said easy as pie. Any universal boot/cap for 7mm wire will work well. I myself experimented with different kinds and some are better than others but all will work better than old corroded ones. The best ones I found are the Champion PRO0U non-resister 0 ohm . Solid Brass inside and screws on to the spark plug wire. Did cure a slight miss I had and seals really well around the wire and spark plug.Tthe only problem is they cost $5.00 apiece:(. Any cheaper one will work just as well.
