Can you convert a newer ford 5.8, 5.0 liter, late 96-00... engine from a truck/car and use it as a replacement engine. I have 5.0 ho OMC.
????

Ford didn't make the 5.8L past 1996. In any case, a 351w is a 351w. the didn't really change much of anything aside from head design. You will need a new intake manifold, distributor, and a few other miscellaneous items, but the manifolds/motor mounts/etc should swap over directly.

What about a 4.8L in a 1996 T bird? Would this be a good replacement?

didn't know ford made a 4.8 liter, i know they made a 4.6 liter

but none of the parts from the 5.0/5.8 engine(s) will bolt onto either of those engines

ford never made a marinized 4.6 liter long block and getting marine parts for it may be close to impossible/expensive/not worth your while
