replacing O-rings on disconnect 2 line

What is the trick on replacing the O rings does the disconnect come apart or do you dig out the old ones and shove in the new??? Johnson 18hp 1957..

Ok have new ones in...Was not sure if it would/should come apart that way seems I remember trying this on the newer ones and messed it up...Bob

Yup. With the newer ones you pry/dig out the o-ring only.

I guess it's better practice to take the connector apart, but I just replaced the rings in mine by digging them out with a bit of sharpened wire.<br />I'd bet they were the original rings as they just crumbled, the rubber was very dry, hard, and brittle. I got the new ones in by lubing with a bit of oil and just working them in with a blunt dowel, that's how my Seloc manual tells you to do it.
