I purchased a 14 Anchor "runabout" with a Mercury 40 horse outboard. They are a great match. The boat is in great shape but the engine may need to be replaced soon. I think they are both 30 or 40 years old. How does one match up a boat with a motor? Will a modern 40 hp motor provide more "zip" or would a modern 50 or 60 hp be too large. I would like to be able to pull an adult on skis or a knee board. Thanks for your help.

Yes it would. Please post this question under Boat Questions. You have an outboard and this is a section for inboard/outboard (motor in boat with drive unit coming through transom.

Thank you.
Bob
