Replacing Kenwood KDC 252-U with a new one. Any special tools I'll need?

Just bought the boat, the radio would switch modes at first but now will only pick up Iphone but nothing else. None of the buttons work etc. It just comes on and the display is in display mode (won't turn off). It has a mind of its own. I called Kenwood and we tried different fixes but nothing worked so they said faulty unit. I don't have any history on it but I found a brand new unit, same model for $80. My thought is I can simply hook up the wires like they are now and all will be good.

However, I'm also aware that all repairs that seem easy aren't always that easy. Will I need any special tools to remove the current radio? If it matters, it's installed in the glove box of a 2007 Tahoe Q6. Thanks

No tools needed, the new radio should come with the 2 flat pieces of metal you will need to release the hooks to slide it forward.

Since you are replacing with the same model it's just plug and play.......just unplug the molded plug in the back mount new stereo and plug into new stereo.

Excellent! I've been watching videos on it and I think it will be a pretty easy swap. Radio in tonight, back on the water tomorrow!

Install took MAYBE 15 minutes. Great sound, all functions on the radio work. Couldn't be happier! Ready to hit the water in the morning!
