Howdy everyone -

I finally got the boat out of storage last week to take her out on the water and I couldn't get the dern drain plug into the hull. Started looking at it and somehow the threads got messed up on the hull assy that the brass plug screws into. Probably happened when I was changing the oil...

Anyhow, I've got a new plug assy now and it looks easy enough. Just remove the three screws and use a lot of silicone sealant (the kind that hardens).

Anyhow, here's my question... how hard is it going to be to get the old assy out? Once I remove the screws, is it going to be stuck pretty good from the old sealant?

FYI, this is the part that I will be replacing -

I would try to fix the threads first. Barrow or buy a 1/2" NPT pipe tap and just chase the threads. Works 99.8% of the time. ;)

It will not be hard to get the old garboard drain out. Use a putty knife to break the seal.
