Replacing Gimball bearing 3.0 mercruiser

So I have a 99 Bayliner 1950 Capri 3.0 mercruiser and I was told my gimbal bearing needs replaced can anyone explain how to do this or help with videos or links to videos or pictures anything helps thanks ! Also I was told my gear oil is burnt and has water mixed with it? What can that mean? A answer to either question will b greatly appreciated thanks !

I'm probably not the best person to answer these questions but here is some quick feedback.

The gimbal bearing requires the outdrive to be pulled off to access the gimbal bearing. The bearing then requires either a slide hammer, or a special puller tool to remove. I think there is then a separate tool to push the bearing back in. Here is a simple video to check out:

If you gear oil is burnt up, maybe they mean its milky and had water intrude the outdrive? Either way its common and means a seal is probably leaking. This is a separate beast and usually requires draining and pressure testing the outdrive to find what seal needs replacing. Some seals are simple fixes, others require special tools and a mechanic is probably best to handle the involved ones.
