I am considering buying a 20ft Bayliner Cuddy (2072) which currently has a 10 yr old Force 150hp engine.

I have heard some adverse comments regarding the Force engine, so was considering buying it on the basis that the engine could be replaced by a Mercruiser. Maybe run the Force engine until it breaks?

All comments and opinions welcome as it will influence my decision.

Thanks all

Hey call me thrifty (pronounced CHEAP) but I would give the 10 year old Force a try. If it runs okay and meets your needs why spend the money. Run it till "death do you part"

Bob :D

Force is an outboard..Mercrusier is a inboard/outboard setup. Send me pictures when you do it! :)

Unless your talking Force L-Drive..Then dont send the pictures. Cause I will be praying for you!

Bob, thanks. I do agree with your sentiment. My only concern (should it?) is reliability.

Trent, I am talking about an L-Drive. Thoughts? Is this a non-starter?

Simon

Dont buy that setup. You will regret it!!! Move on. L-Drives are a POS! And doing what your asking will cost too much.

Find another boat!!

Trent.

I had hoped to get a strong opinion and yours is unmistakeable. Thanks very much for your help. I will NOT buy that boat.

Simon

I would strongly agree with Trent. L-drives are terrible. Parts availabiltiy is starting to dry up and you can't realistically put anything else on that boat for power. Unless the seller is really giving the boat away steer clear.
