First let me mention ive only ever replaced 1 set of bearings in my life and those where a breeze compared to this.
I have a 1981 shorline trailer which hab play on 1 side so I decided to replace the bearings . I removed the bad side first and discovered it had a 3/4 inch bearing and a 1 1/4 bearing . After fighting to get the race out I replaced the bearing and replaced the hub and tire. When I tightened the hub bolt and backed it off the hub wont turn .I play with it til its right however the bolt is only hand tight to allow the tire to spin free(by hand). Is this going to be a problem?

I did notice a fraction of a hair of play(side to side)

that would be a problem it should be about hand tite and roll EASY with OUT the tire and not have any play in and out or be able to rock it around

do you have brakes ?

if you did not get the new races in flat that would do it

tommays

No I dont have brakes on the trailer but I am guessing it may have has some because of a square plate with 4 holes mounted behind the wheel.
It rolls easy without the tire (if hand tight ) but with the tire it has that nice free spin that says "new bearings"

Sounds like you have a race not all the way seated to me.
