Replacing a Johnson Outboard with a Mecury

Hello

I am new here and looking for advice. I just bought a 2002 mecury 225hp motor to replace a Johson 150hp faststrike motor. I thought I would change them myself but it looks more complicated then I thought. Will I be able to use any of the controls I have now.? My key switch is on the dash, will I have to replace this. There are more cables going into the motor then I thought and I don't know what they are. Is there somewhere to find out this information, or should I take it to a professional?

Yea, you might want to look into taking it to a pro, cause those controls will not match up. I think the key switch can be rigged to work, but im not sure.

J/E controls do not work with Merc, or vice versa.
