Guys,
Last year I noticed water being thrown from the circulating water pump on my 2000 Volvo Penta 4.3 GL (top water pump). I assume this means I need a new water pump. My question is - how hard is this. I do not own a VP manual as I've always paid to have this done. I want to do this myself. Is it as easy as pulling the fan belt and removing and replacing? My only unknown is do you have to use any type of "goop sealer" when reinstalling? Thanks in advance for any help.

Ayuh,... That's All there is to it.....

Just Clean the gasket surfaces,+ use the new gaskets...

Thanks Bond-O. So no gasket seal needed?

The OEM pump has a suggested retail price from Volvo of $200.
I can't vouch for the quality of that pump, but it does cross reference to the part number for your engine.

Thanks Don. I ordered it so we'll see how it goes.

Do any of you guys know if I need gasket seal on the 2 small gaskets that come with this pump?

Of course you need gaskets, a cheap pump may not come with them, luckily they the gaskets are like $1.50 for the 2

So no gasket seal "goop" is needed on these gaskets?

Hi, I'm facing a pump replacement, water leaking out of the weep hole on the bottom of the pump. When removed, I noticed that the old pump did not have any sealant other that in the through holes two of the bolts. Is sealant not required on the gaskets? I noticed that with some automobiles they use sealant and then retighten the bolts after running the engine.
