I have a 1988 4 Winns boat w/ a 260 HP 350 (5.7L) Mercruiser engine that needs to be replaced. (All the accessories and exhaust manifolds appear to be in good working order). I want to repalce this older 350 (5.7L) engine with a LATE model 2002 5.7L Vortec Marine Engine. What must be done to accomplish this? I know for sure that the intake manifold will not work (different # of bolt holes) and I will need an electric fuel pump ( Im not sure what type) BUT will I need to replace my 4 barrel carb? What else would I need to add or change? Any help or ideas would be appriciated.

All of the parts except the intake (as you noted) will work...

One thing you will need to change is the distributor drive gear if the vortec engine you're swapping in has a roller camshaft rather than a flat tappet camshaft... A GM dealership parts dept. should be able to supply you with the proper gear...

The Carb (either Holley or Q-jet) should be fine though you may need to make some minor tuning adjustments....

Here's a link for all the parts you might need, including a electric fuel pump...
http://www.ebasicpower.com/
