replacement trolling motor

I have a 2005 tracker V-16 that came with a Minn Kota 12V Power Drive 40 bow mount trolling motor. I would like to replace it as I really hate the stowing/deploying mechanism and foot control of this setup. The old trolling motor on my brother's boat had a simple rope lift to deploy/stow the motor which worked quickly and easily. It also had a cable operated foot pedal which was simple, accurate and quiet. I've done a search here to see what newer models might have these features but came up short of finding what I needed.

Here's the question...are there any new trolling motors that offer the simplicity and reliability that I'm looking for? The Minn Kota Maxxum or Edge seem like they might work. The Power Drive V2 seems like the same thing I already have with an updated foot control. I'm also leaning toward the 12V, 55# models.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: replacement trolling motor

There are adjustments that can be made to Power Drives to loosen them up. Search this forum as I've posted the procedure before.
