Right now my 1982 Grady White Tournament 22 runs pretty good with the 485 engine it has in it. Unfortunately, I've been reading a lot of negatives about this engine, which has me a bit worried. It has a bit over 2000 hrs. on it and the compression is around 155 on each cylinder. If and when the time comes, what engine would be the best to replace it with in terms of ease of installation and horsepower. The boat has power steering and washdown system if that is of use when making a determination. Thanks.
. There is no engine that will "drop in". If you take care of that one, and change the impeller every other year or so, when the time comes, rebuild it over the winter and it should last for say... another thirty years or so.
