Replacement Crossflow Regulator

I recently had a regulator unit to begin overcharging on my 85 omc crossflow 150. I had a spare stator/regulator setup that was a 35 amp, but the regulator unit was faulty as well. I was wondering if a 10 amp regulator would work with the 35 amp stator, or should I match the lower 10 amp output stator with a new one. The cost of a 35 amp unit is triple what a 10 amp is.

You can use an unregulated rectifier like the ones sold here at iboats for example: http://www.iboats.com/mall/index.cg...1151960115&search_in_category=f&view_id=47460

Just be sure to disconnect everything on the 35 Amp.

Don't use a maintenance free auto battery with it though.

I have the larger water cooled reg/rec that mounts on the top of the block.
