I really hope I don't have to order this straight from Volvo.

Does anyone have a NAPA part number?

Take it to a local rebuilder, about $125

I'm starting to come to that conclusion. $700 from Volvo Penta, $400 for the Sierra replacement online (NAPA wants $675 for the Sierra part).

Now I've just gotta find a local alternator repair shop. If you can suggest any near Madison, WI...

any automotive rebuilder- start calling around.
the only marine specific you have, is the housing, and you already have that.

I have a AQ131 and my Paris Rhone alternator packed it in. I replaced it with a Delco single wire marine alternator for $120. The original was more than double that. Whatever you do, make sure you replace it with one that is marine rated.

Have a great day,

You wouldn't happen to have a part number for that, would you? Looks like the AQ131 and AQ125 share the same Sierra part number, so hopefully that holds true for the Delco.

No I do not know the part number for my alternator. It was not required when I bought the new one. My new one is a Delco, 65 amp (if I remember correctly), single wire self exciting alternator. Just take your old one to your local alternator reman shop and they should be able to help you. The most important thing is it must fit, the mounts must align as must the belt with the other pulleys. There are more than one alternator that will work for this application.

Have a great day,

Rob.

Thanks for the tip on the Delco alternator.

I went into the local shop, picked up a 14V/65 amp alternator with the same mounting points. With a little modification to the tension bracket, the alternator went right in. Fired the boat up and I now see 14.4 volts at the alternator. :)

With alternators and starters; the local rebuilder can handle it.
