I just replaced my wiring harness on my '86 E150 due to the original being too corroded and not sending power to the remote throttle and key. So after installing the new harness, everything started and ran great 4 or 5 times, and it shut off just fine each time. I went to work on other parts of the boat and came back to bask in my handy work one last time before coming inside for the night and to my surprise turning the key off only seemed to cut the engine down to about half power, but not all the way off. Turning the key back to the ON position (not start) made the missing "power" immediately kick back in. And it does that every time now. Tried pulling the red plug apart to stop it and that just sped the engine up. Finally got it to cut off by switching the key to OFF one last time and it seemed to choke out.
Before I do any more damage than I may have already done, what should check I here? It was working fine when I got it all back together... Thought I finally got it to where I was gonna be able to put it on the water.
A couple things worth noting that may or may not matter. This harness had the same part number as my original, but came off an E150X model wheras mine isnt an X. It had 1 extra 4 wire plug on it that apparently goes nowhere as it wasnt on my original. Other than that though, I believe everything was the same. I just left the non needed plug in there hanging in the open.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated..
