Replaced water pump...some issues!

I managed to get my lower unit off....best thing is to remove the left shroud and then the shift rod is very visible.
Anyhow...after much bruising and cursing...I got the new water pump kit installed...checked every thing....put the
motor back together...but now water is coming out between the lower and middle unit....is that normal? BTW...the
old water pump was almost totally disintegrated.

What kind of motor? And no water should not be coming out those areas

Its a 2001 90 HP Johnson

Sounds like you don't have the copper pipe fit in the water pump housing.

Look closely are seam where the gearcase meets the midsection. You will see slots where water is supposed to emerge. Sounds normal to me, as long as the motor has good pressure and deson't overheat.
