replaced leaky manifolds: how's my oil look? (pics)

I've been working hard putting an engine together to get my boat wet this season. Changed some leaky manifolds I spotted when my oil went chocolate milk after the break-in lube change. I've replaced them and done a couple oil changes, one with some diesel to hopefully flush out some water and another straight oil change today (10w30). I dont have enough experience changing oil to notice if there's a problem unless it's neon green or something so I'd like to get a few opinions on these pics. I ran the engine hard for about 30 mins before draining what you see. This is the 2nd change after draining the milk. I guess what I'm after is some reassurance that the water intrusion is gone or I'll never stop stressing over it.

Sure looks good to me.. get out there and keep an eye on it,, i check my oil every time i put the boat in the water, and sometimes during the day while fishing.

What was the original problem? That oil looks good.

Phew... that lets me relax a bit.

What was the original problem?

When I first ran the engine, I used old manifolds that leaked. At least I hope thats how the water got in.

Something else I should ask about is how much pcv blow-by is normal? I dont have either vent tube attached to the flame arrestor right now and I get a fine smoke/vapor out the port valve cover only. Hard to see in direct sunlight and it dissipates quickly but it's there. It's a newly rebuilt motor with about 1 hour of break-in so I doubt it's a blown head gasket or cracked block but I wanna be sure that's not the source of the water. A few days ago I was ready to rent a hoist and drop the motor in and today I'm thinking I might have to tear it down to the shortblock... Ugh!

I don't think you have a pvc valve, just a plastic elbow.
And all engines put out some smoke from blow-by, nature of the beast.
If the compression #'s are good; happy summer.

Some crankcase vapor from a vent line is normal, your engine is not even broken in yet. Should get better when the rings are seated and it is broken in. Go out and enjoy your efforts, keep an eye on the oil to make sure it does not turn milky. I am sure everything is fine, you are just obsessing. Relax and enjoy.

Have a great day

Rob.

Not sure but...........I don't think you should get water in the oil from manifolds while running.

Did the engine hydrolock?.......Was there water in the cylinders?

Just food for thought.............
