Replace U-Joints On OMC Cobra?

Anyone have experience attempting to replace u-joints and lube gimball bearing on an 86 OMC Cobra (4.3 ltr) or similar? Preventive maintenance only for this summer's ride. Is this something I should even attempt in my garage? (weekend mechanic) Or should I support my local dealer....<br /><br />Thanks in advance for your inputs!<br /><br />-Rick
