Replace tilt ant trim 1994 Johnson

I have a 1994 90 horsepower Johnson. I need to replace the tilt and trim motor. The problem is it froze with the motor most of the way down, and I will not be able to get it out. Also, the manual release valve is stuck. Should I just take it in and let dealership work on it, or can I do it myself some other way? Please help, anyone!!!

I just had the exact same thing happen to my '97 Johnson. I was cruising back to the dock, and it died. I replaced both relay's and it didn't fix the problem. Then a friend of mine called me today and said he had the same problem. Said to try tapping the tilt motor with a hammer. Two taps, and it is working as well as the day I got it!!!
