Recently at a boat show a Johnson rep told me I should replace the thermo when I replace the water pump. I replace the water pump at 100 hrs, and when I run all seems well, and no overheating. Do you agree?

I actually monitor water pressure, and only replace the water pump when pressure starts to drop.

But I would replace the thermostat at the same time, you're only talking about another 15 bucks or so in parts.

I would do this because I get into muddy/shallow flats sometimes. I've also had sand clog the thermostats wide open two different times. Both times, the water pump was fine.

2150 last year had overheating, thermo was plugged with sand - the old salty atlantic H20, changed out head gasket , water pump, new thermo, mechanic tipped me off about that that 50 cent rubber gromment that holds pressure relief valve , they kind of give in to age and start to not work
