Hi folks, Happy New Year.
I'm told my Mercury 90 HP is blown. Very low combustion in middle and bottom chamber. Shop want's $5500.00 to replace the power head. I'm contemplating on whether or not I could do it myself. Curious on thoughts. From You Tube videos, etc. it seems doable, but not sure of the little things. Any thoughts? Anyone know of a good detailed video and manual online for Mercury outboards?

A reman powerhead with warranty is $3K if you do labor for swapping. What you gotta figure out is what caused original to fail as you could transfer problem over to replacement and have it fail again.
