I have a 1985 70hp and need to replace the fuel pump. I already have by-passed the VRO oil side. I was told that I can install a pre VRO system pump but don't know what would work and what to do to install it. Can anyone help?
The maxrules web site will recommend a pre-mix fuel pump. So the gasoline side of your VRO pump is bad? There may be a rebuild kit. Maxrules will have that too.
I replaced my VRO pump with a standard fuel pump from a 1983 model. You will also need the small 2 bolt bracket to mount it to your engine block. This is a easy job to do.
Conventional fuel pump part number 438559, ~$100. Cheaper than the VRO rebuild kit. I put one on my 120 after the fuel side of the VRO pump failed. Works great so long as you are OK with premixing.
