Replace 3.0 OMC 1988 with 1993

Hi all,

Because I am new, I have lots of questions and need some expert advise.

I have a broken 1988 OMC 3.0 and I got of E Bay an 1993 3.0. Quick check of the engine and the wiring diagrams, I have detailed out already some things I will need to watch out for, like ignition system differences etc.

My question is to you is, what else do I need to be careful and prepared for?

Your help would be appreciated.

The Basic Long Block Assembley is the Exact Same thing.........

It'll be the ancillary parts that Might be different.....
Ei; the Ign., Carb., Manifold, Etc........

Brummer,

The pipe that connects the exhaust riser to the transom is different between the two models, as well as the transom (gimbal housing) itself. Make sure the exhaust pipe on your newer engine bolts to your existing transom, or you may need to use your old one and make modifications. Also, be sure to replace the seal between the pipe and gimbal with a new one!
