I have to replace a 115hp Turbo Jet motor that overheated. I have a new motor, and I need to have instructions on how to remove the old and replace the new. Does anyone have a step by step? I believe that I can remove the 3 bolts from the motor mount and reconnect the cables and hoses. Is it that simple, or are there some caveats that I need to know about? Please help!

That's an outboard motor. May be in the boat, but it's an outboard.
Moving to J/E forum.

I dont know how mechanically inclined you are or exactly what an OMC 115 looks like, or the tools that you have access to but I can tell you that it is not as hard as it looks. I have worked on many cars and pulled a few motors in my day and the hardest thing to do to get my motor out was to find a shop that had a hoist and not a cherry picker to clear the boats hull. If you have done your prep work to get access to your engine then your half way done.

On your question about if you need to remove and re hook up the cables, there is more to it than just that. Are you just replacing the Long Block of the motor or are you doing a complete swap and the new motor has all your needed parts on it like distributer, carb & intake, water pump & alternator, ect...ect.?? My best advice to you would be to keep all your sealed components like power steering all intact, and take your time to make notes and mark your wires that go to everything. Most will fall back into place because of "Habit" of the location but also there are several wires that may look alike that go to different things in the same area. I am learning that even using the same parts I am still having to trouble shoot and make adjustments to get the motor dialed in. The actual swap was easier in my case then the tuning to get it running correctly. LOL!!

disconnect all cables, label them, disconect steering, now attach cherry picker, remove all 4 transom thru bolts, lift motor. reverse to install. you have to adjust cables to the motor, not the motor to the cables.

An omc 115 is no different than a J/E block. However unless you have a new adaptor already mounted to the new engine it will be a bit more involved than just 3 bolts. If you do have a new adaptor and your old one is in good shape sell the old parts on ebay. Should get you more than enough money for the OEM manual, a raw water intake filter setup, and plenty of beer for the repower project. Just the plate between the block and adaptor should fetch you around 300 bucks. Some Turbojet parts are becoming quite rare and spendy.
