took my mechanics a long time to figure out my electronic choke problem was due to a sticky dirty plunger. Now fixed, the engine is still leaking water and the mechanics think it may be a faulty gasket. Not sure why they didn't locate and fix it when they changed my impeller. Taking a compression check on this engine seems to be more than these mechanics can manage. After ordering a few adapter plugs, they still had trouble screwing them into the spark plug threads. They could only give me an approximate reading of something a bit over 100. Much of these problems was due to idling the engine too long with the cooling water not circulating. My old impeller disintegrated and I had to get after them to do a better job of cleaning out the cooling system. These so called professionals charge me 118 dollars an hour. I had no choice, since they were the only ones able to remove the engine from my boat in the slip.

You sould always add the model, serial# year when asking parts.
Fill out the profile with youur info and location.

Time to get the factory manual and start fixing it yourself.

What kind of plugs does the motor need that they had to get adaptor fittings?? Sounds like BS to me!!!
I bought a compression tester "kit" in 1986 Has 3 hoses with 3-4 more fittings to make it a universal kit.
Since then I have used 2 of the fittings in the kit.
And one of those fittings I only used once.
Was on a antique tractor with HUGE spark plugs.

You have a question? or just venting?
