We had the unfortunate luck of hitting an underwater tree and put a pretty bad dent in a pontoon. Who do I see to get it fixed and can they pull it out and repair it? Any suggestions? It doesn't appear to be leaking.

Re: repair of dented pontoons

Welcome to iboats.

Without a picture it is hard to say but generally it is best to leave them go and forget it ever happened.

As a bit of background, I am the repair guy at Bennington and have fixxed about anything you can think of in my 26 years.

Pulling a dent from a toon is really hit and miss, some come out really nice and others look worse and to pull the dent you have to drill several holes in the tube then fill them then sand down the welds, it is really time consuming.

I would be really leary of letting someone with no experience do it.

Normally instead of 1 big dent you end up with a bunch of smaller ones but it will never be perfect again.

Unless it is really huge and deep I would let it go, it shouldn't affect the performance of the boat at all.
