Repair manual for 7.5 Scott Atwater

I am looking at buying a 7.5 Scott Atwater and have a few questions.<br /><br />Did someone elese build them and put Scott on the outside?<br /><br />Where would I find a manual for it?<br /><br />Are they a good motor?<br /><br />What should I look for to make sure that I should buy it.<br /><br />Thanks

No- McCulloch, out of business since 72-???ebay???- Later ones weren't to bad except the over then transom 7.5s were junk---OMC or Mercury<br /><br /><br />ebay ???

What model we talkin about? I know where you can get a Scott-Atwater service manual on CD for 46-56 models...good motors. Don't know of a source for later Scotts, but someone else probably does. Post the model number.

Don't have a model number yet, but will find out tonight.<br /><br />Laddiesservice - Am I correct in understanding that the 7.5 and under were ok but over were junk.<br /><br />From what I can see the year is based upon the model number and the last two digits are the year it was built but in reverse, i.e. 3765 was built in 1956.

No, the later model engines were better after McCullock but the over the transom models 7.5 built from 1960 on were junk. I hate to admit it but a worked for a dealer for a couple of years. The old Scott Atwaters are about impossible to find any parts for, there are some ign. parts availibe through WICO they built most of the mags. and a few parts availible for the carbs, don't throw your money away---Bob
