This is my last project on my boat and I need to tackle it soon. I would like to hold ice and fish in this box. Theres alot of gelcoat cracks and missing with rust. Whats the best way to repaint this for cheap.
1) What kind of paint do I need?
2) whats the easiest way to take the old gelcoat paint off but keep the fiberglass in good shape? If sand paper what grit?

any other info please chime in! thanks.

It's inside a fish box so appearance in not an issue. patch the cracks with fiberglass resin (assuming they are small) and if you want to, spray paint with white rustoleum. Forget sanding off the gelcoat; total waste of time.

that would be great, ive spent enough time already into this boat lol. So if thats all, that would be awesome, i have gel coat reapir stuff remaining maybe i can fill in the cracks and chips with it then paint over huh?
Any easy way to remove the rust? or just paint over it?

I would scuff it a bit and paint over it.
