Removing trim/tilt 06' 90 ETEC

Doing work on 2006 ETEC 90HP, repairing the trim/tilt with a Seal Kit.

I got the bottom pin out, but the top pin. Its like not moving at all with some punches (soaked it two days with some penetrating oil).

I assume a lot of Heat?

Heres a video. But doesn't show any real detail. Freshwater boat. Well, i'm in saltwater.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I guess you got the circlips out if it has some and yes heat if its a salty, if theres a plastic bushing in there you will need to probably replace that too but often you can get away with it just re-grease well.

Man, the guy in the video sure skipped over the toughest parts. Driving the mounting pins out usually is the hardest part, the motor mounting screws break if you are not super careful, the wiring MUST go back exactly like it comes out, or it will pinch, sometimes the bleeding process is a bit troublesome, he just glossed over the tough stuff.

To get that top pin out use plenty of heat and a big brass drift. Don't want to mushroom the pin end.

I got the circlips out. Bottom pin came out like butter. Just the top pin. Doesn't move at all.

Get a Mapp Gas torch and heat the area around the pin. Then use your brass drift and a BFH.

I did a little heating with a regular propane torch. Not a Mapp (yellow or blue) torch. I guess that wasn't enough.
Had to run away into town, i'll work on it this week. Mite have a buddy of mines to help me.
Hopefully everything goes smoothly, instead of spending $4 bills to happy mechanic.

If the Mapp doesn't work you'll have to get somebody with an acy/oxy torch who knows how to use it.

Tried working on it. With a huge hammer. My friend of mines, couldn't even move it. Said he might have to drill it out.
I ordered a new top pin/bushing/ring, just in case. At least the top pin is not arm-n-leg for the part.
Hopefully everything goes smoothly!

I tried getting that pin out on my 97 50hp.to replace the TT unit. Used flame, muscle and broke two slide hammers. Read in my manual that I needed a special OMC tool to connect to the end of a large slide hammer. Didn't have the tool and ran out of patience. Called shop and they said they had the tool and it should take about an hour of labor. Took it to the shop where it stayed for a week. When I picked it up the bill was close to $400. Said it took them 5hrs to beat the pin out. Lesson learned. Paid them and didn't even ask about the special tool?
Those things are hard to remove but you need to be patient. I wouldn't drill it. Keep spraying, heating and beating. It will eventually loosen. Good luck.

One of my uncle sent someone, he drilled less than 1/4". Broke 5 screw bolts. He said he give up.
He did not use the heat method. He was scared to do so (expand). My other uncle, he will take a look at it. He is a mechanic.
New pin/parts should arrive later this week. Never knew this was such a headache.
Oh ya, local evinrude mechanic charge $120 an hr for labor. So thats plan Z.

Update:

Fixed! You were right, Pain in the butt. I gave up on the top pin, my uncle sent a mechanic to me. He gave up. Went to see my other uncle. He finished it.
Good to go. A lil squeaky noise. But it works. Replaced the top pin with a new one. I believe he screwed it out. I dunno what he did for the cylinder to replace it with the new seals. Seem like it was frozen as well. Good to go now!
