Need some help removing the thermostat in a mercruiser 3.0. It?s the stainless 160 degree thermostat. I don?t feel like replacing the housing, but I might have to. Before I do that though, how much force should be needed to lift the thermostat out of the housing? I?ve read both the merc manual and the seloc, but can?t get this one out. I?m wondering if there is a gasket that may have corroded that I?m missing.

Re: Removing Thermostat

Never mind, figured it out. Both manuals basically refer to the old thermostat. There's a white sleeve that fits inside the housing that needs to come out too. After scraping away the old gasket, it made mores sense. Thanks for all the help!
