Hello everyone....long time listener, first time caller.
I have 2 1998 V/P SX outdrives that I am in the process of cleaning up, repainting, etc. Both drives have a little corrosion under the metal tag that has the drive s/n and ratio, which I'd like to strip and repaint. On my drives the tags are attached with 2 rivets.
Does any one have a good way to remove the tag?
I get that I can drill out the rivets, the problem is that the inside rivet part is inaccessible in the exhaust passages of the upper gear housing. If I drill out the rivet, I'll likely lose the back half of the rivet down in the drive somewhere. I would like to be able to do this without splitting the upper and lower units. Any ideas?
