I have a 2000 175 Johnson and I am getting ready to rebuild . I wanted to know if I need a 5/16 12 point thin walled socket or can I used a reg 5/16 12 point socket . The thin walled in 5/16 12 point sockets are a hard think to find if that is required to be used .

If you see a snap on truck, they have the socket ,its an xtra long thin wall, but as all snap on ,they are costly, but gauranteed for life.it would be a 3/8 drive.NAPA might have one.Look at ebay,,you MIGHT find a socket there

the standard Snap-On 5/16" 12 point 3/8" drive socket will work.
