My boat has been laid up for several years and am getting it back into running shape. All is good so far except I have a water leak that seems to be coming from the PS heat exchanger (only leaks when engine is running). Of course, it's a bear to get to the back of the engine while in the boat.

So I'm thinking my easiest option is to remove the exhaust risers coming off the manifold - except unlike pictorials I've seen in Clymer and other books, my manifold/riser is not one unit but rather a riser, bellows, a right angle manifold and another bellows connected to the exhaust Y on the transom mount.

I cannot seem to remove the bellows (I imagine they were put on with some sort of sealant). As I don't know how old they are, I'm thinking about just cutting them off and replacing with new ones.

Unless someone has a better idea as to how to get at the exchanger in the first place?

I contort to get to mine.

You need a simple tool to remove the couplers from the cast.

8" Radiator Hose Pick
