I have an Xpress VJ 2270 and would like to remove the rear bench seat to open up more space.

The question is can it be done without severely degrading the structural integrity of the boat?

Im not sure about your boat, but most boat seats have no bearing on the structural integrity.

Removing the seat will not hurt if there are ribs close to each side. This is a welded boat, I presume, so you can always put it back if you can find an aluminum welder. There is flotation foam under the seat and removing that will void any warranty and prolly incur the wrath of the water police. Why would you need more room in a jon that big? They make a 24 now, maybe you could trade up?
