Re: removing power head on 15 hp
Here goes. 1st, remove the lower unit (disconnect the shift conector ) 2nd, remove the tiller arm throttle shaft. 3rd, remove the smaller, corrosponding throttle shaft located in the streering bracket. 4th, remove the six powerhead bolts. 5th, take a good size screwdriver and put it between the lower motor pan and the steering bracket and pry up. The powerhead and pan, as an assembly, will come right off. Remove the powerhead straight up and place it on it's flywheel. The water tube (some have two) will be pointing up into the air. Remove the 4 bolts and the tuner and water tube come off and viola, there's the tube and grommett. Blow clear the water passage on the block. <br />Putting the powerhead is not too donting but you must be carefull for the water tubes. Don't bugger them up. Put a rubber band around the watertube and the tuner. Stand at the port side of the motor and you will see just between the block and pan so as to get the water tube in it's proper place. It can help to have a friend down below with a long screwdriver and guiding the tube down. If you have two water tubes( long and short, realize that the short one goes into the aft cavity. You can see where by looking from below. See, it's e.z. Good luck !!!
